AquaTech Taiwan 2026: Asia’s Dedicated Platform for Smart Aquaculture Farming

AquaTech Taiwan, part of Taiwan Smart Agriweek, one of Asia’s dedicated events for aquaculture farming, returns to TaiNEX 1, Taipei, from 8–10 September 2026. 

The event brings together innovators and solution providers—from AI-based smart farming systems and equipment to alternative aquafeed, additives, and aquaculture biotechnologies—and connects them withaquaculture farmers, seafood processors, aquafeed manufacturers, and industry associations.

Building on recent momentum—with over 770 booths, 21,000 visitors from 69 countries generating more than USD 88 million in procurement opportunities—the show continues to attract both local and international audiences, creating a platform to connect, engage and network across Asia’s aquaculture sector.

Responding to Climate, Cost, and Structural Challenges in Aquaculture

Taiwan’s aquaculture industry is shifting amid environmental and climate challenges. Declining production, limited farm areas, fragmented pond operations, and constrained water resources caused by extreme weather have affected production stability and increased the need for more resilient and efficient farming models.

At the same time, high operating costs, labour shortages, and heavy reliance on small-scale and traditional farming practices have accelerated demand for professional-grade solutions — including smart water-quality monitoring, automated feeding systems, oxygenation equipment, environmental control technologies, biosecurity management, and facility-based or protected aquaculture systems — to stabilise output and improve day-to-day operations.

This adjustment is also backed by government initiatives and subsidy programmes, including international certification and traceability systems, production and marketing cooperation incentives, and subsidies for mechanisation of smart aquaculture equipment, wastewater treatment, and indoor production facilities. 

Policies such as aquavoltaics are also being promoted to diversify farm income and advance sustainable development, while industry associations continue to facilitate technology adoption through demonstration projects and training programmes.
