Three Materials of Plastic Enclosure
- ABS (ACRYLONITRILE BUTADIENE STYRENE)- It is a common plastic material of enclosures and for general-purpose. ABS enclosures can be install indoors and outdoors where ambient temperature below 60℃. Save time and money with e-tan’s ABS enclosures.
- PC+ABS BLEND (POLYCARBONATE + ACRYLONITRILE BUTADIENE STYRENE)- Excellent resistance to flame (UL94 5VB), and ability to survive corrosive conditions are suitable for electronic and electrical applications.
- PC (POLYCARBONATE)- It is ideal for indoor and outdoor use and is very popular because of its toughness, thermal stability, and weatherproof. e-tan’s PC enclosures are certified weatherproof by testing with IEC 62208 (1000 hours of UV test) and IEC 60068-2-52 (1344 hours of salt spray test). PC weatherproof enclosures are made from high-quality, durable materials that are UV-stable, corrosion-resistant and UL 94 V-0 flame rating.
IP68
The ingress protection code or IP code is defined by IEC 60529 (EN 60529 in Europe). It classifies the degrees of protection provided by electrical enclosures and mechanical casings against solids or liquids, such as dust and water.
Anti-Corrosion
To improve durability of entire enclosures, metallic parts are made of SUS304. But it is not enough for coastal or marine environments. The whole enclosures are continuously exposed to moisture, salt spray and even seawater, causing corrosion.
The metallic parts of enclosures are treated with protective coatings to protect from salt corrosion in harsh environments. The metal parts with or without coatings are available.
The PC (polycarbonate) enclosures with treatment metal parts passed the 1344 hours salt spray test (IEC 60068-2-52) without any rust. These plastic enclosures are durable and sturdy, providing excellent protection for components. e-tan’s PC (polycarbonate) enclosures meat IP68, being an ideal solution for outdoor applications in harsh environments.
