In high-latitude European countries where there is insufficient sunlight, artificial light sources in the form of plant lamps have been used for crop cultivation for many years. Additionally, due to factors like climate change, environmental pollution, and restrictions imposed by the terrain in cultivation areas, including many regions in Asia such as China, South Korea, and Japan, plant lamps are being used in plant factories for comprehensive lighting and commercial operations. However, there are significant differences in the growth benefits for crops, equipment investment costs, and energy efficiency of different light sources when assessing them from a market economic value perspective. So, how do you choose the right plant growth lighting fixtures? Let’s discuss this question from two perspectives:


1.    First, can all commercially available lighting fixtures be used as lighting fixtures for plant growth?
Lighting is a major invention that has allowed human civilization to progress. With the advancement of technology, from tungsten filament light bulbs to the current LED (Light Emitting Diode) light sources, the focus has been on creating brighter and more realistic lighting to meet human visual perception. However, the visible light wavelength range that humans can perceive is roughly between 380nm and 750nm. The region around 555nm is the most sensitive area for human visual perception. Additionally, plants cannot absorb and utilize this light energy, which can create thermal energy in the leaves and interfere with photosynthesis.
