In response to climate change, crop production has shifted from open fields to facility-based cultivation, management, and harvesting, underscoring the critical importance of agricultural facilities. To integrate the production and marketing capabilities of facility operators, strengthen technical exchanges, and promote sustainable industry development, an application was filed with the Ministry of the Interior on August 6, 2016, to establish the "Taiwan Agricultural Facility Association" as a national social organization. Following the submission of supplemental materials for the draft charter and revisions based on the opinions of the competent authorities, the Ministry of the Interior issued a letter (Ref. No. Tai-Nei-Tuan-Zi 1061400078) on January 11, 2017, approving the formation of the "Taiwan Agricultural Facility Association." The preparatory committee then proceeded according to the prescribed procedures.
On February 25, 2017, the inaugural meeting for founders and the first preparatory meeting were held. Professor Ai Chiun was elected as the Chairman of the preparatory committee, and 15 preparatory members were selected. During the meeting, the review of the draft charter was completed, and the membership application procedures, formats, and public recruitment of members were determined. On April 1, 2017, the second preparatory meeting was held, during which the membership roster was finalized, the annual work plan and budget were drafted, and the formats for board election ballots and the date of the founding assembly were decided.
The founding assembly of the Taiwan Agricultural Facility Association was held on May 20, 2017, and the first board of directors and supervisors was elected. Following the assembly, the first joint meeting of the board was convened, where Professor Huang Yu-Yi was elected as the first President of the association, and Professor Lien Chen-Chang was appointed as the Secretary-General.
