Long-Diann cultivates new species of grouper Create a new blue ocean market for grouper
Queensland Grouper, Tiger Grouper, Giant Grouper…Can you spot their difference? Thanks to the outstanding aquatic breeding technology from Taiwan, we are able to have more species and choices. Animal breeding is prioritised by the genetic value of animals, we will select egg, meat, milk, and wool yield, or other desirable characteristics with a higher growth rate for breeding first, in order to further enhance the value of livestock, and poultry and aquaculture.
Long-Diann was established in 1985 and focus on wide fish domestication、conservation of species、fish insemination、hatching & nursery-related technology since 2015. They will counsel farmers in contract breeding and purchase back adult fish at a guaranteed price.
Epinephelus Flavorcaeruleus, Epinephelus Cyanopodus, and Cephalopholis Sonnerati are the leading fish species that have been successfully artificially propagated and cultured in mass production by Long-Diann.
Epinephelus Flavorcaeruleus (Tiny Spot Grouper) is one of the ray-finned fishes of Perciformes and is distributed in the Indian Ocean, with a habitat depth of 10 to 150 meters and a body length of up to 90 cm. It lives in shallow reef areas when juveniles and deep-water coral reefs when turning into adults. It is carnivorous, fed by fish, crustaceans, octopus, etc., and can be served as edible fish and ornamental fish. Its meat is elastic, sweet and is a kind of high-value grouper widely favoured by Asians.
Epinephelus Cyanopodus (Speckled Blue Grouper) is also one of the ray-finned fishes of Perciformes and are distributed in the western Pacific area, with a habitat depth of 2 to 150 meters and a body length of up to 122 cm. It lives in coral reef waters and are carnivorous. It feeds on crustaceans and fish and can be served as edible fish and ornamental fish. Speckled Blue Grouper are deep-sea fish. The taste is plump and rich, crispy and sweet. It can also be served as sashimi or cooked with various cooking methods.
Cephalopholis Sonnerati, its common names are tomato hind, orange-spotted hind, orange-spotted rock-cod, red coral rod, red rock cod, tomato rock-cod, and tomato seabass. It is usually an orange-brown to red-orange colour, with profuse darker orange or red spots all over its head, body, and rounded fins. They are wildly distributed in the Indo-Pacific region. They are high-end edible sea fish. The flesh is white with firm texture and extremely rich in taste.
These three fish species cultivated by Long-Diann are high-priced marine edible fish species. The successful large-scale breeding not only helps these species to get away from excessive fishing and the fate of being extinct, but the stable supply also helps the fishermen maintain a reasonable profit. Faced with the gradual depletion of marine creatures, there is a huge blue ocean market in the future, Long-Diann’s technology can help Taiwanese farmers to establish differentiation and get rid of competition in neighbouring countries.
