In Taiwan’s poultry industry, health management for laying hens and breeder chickens has long faced numerous environmental and disease challenges. Among them, "Leucocytozoonosis" (chicken leucocytozoonosis), transmitted by Culicoides midges (biting midges), has historically caused severe anemia in chickens and significantly reduced egg production, presenting a persistent pain point for many farmers. In the past, we relied heavily on medication for prevention and control. However, with consumer demands for food safety continuously rising and national authorities enforcing strict regulations on drug residues in eggs and poultry meat, finding "effective and drug-residue-free" green biosecurity measures has become an urgent priority for upgrading the entire industry.
For this forum, we have invited the successful developer and commercialization champion of the world's first "recombinant antigen-based recombinant DNA vaccine for chicken leucocytozoonosis." The speaker not only boasts outstanding academic R&D achievements but has also successfully driven the vaccine to market using transgenic technology, providing a safe, residue-free protective shield for layers and breeders. In addition to analyzing the latest R&D advancements in avian leucocytozoonosis vaccines for layers and breeders in Taiwan, the speaker will share how to establish a serological epidemiological survey and monitoring network using highly efficient ELISA diagnostic reagents, thereby implementing an early-detection and precise disease prevention and control system.
| Time | Agenda | Speaker |
| 14:00-15:00 | Current Development Status of Leucocytozoonosis Vaccines for Layers & Breeders in Taiwan and the Importance of ELISA Diagnostic Kits for Disease Surveillance and Prevention. |
